As representatives of civil society, NGOs can be categorized into two groups from the perspective of how they work to establish peace: advocacy NGOs, and fieldoriented NGOs. Advocacy NGOs attempt to influence the national and international processes of policy making by approaching national parliaments and international organizations. Meanwhile, field-oriented NGOs try to create peace among those in conflict. In addition, businesses as members of the private sector can also play important roles by fulfilling their corporate social responsibilities.
